Biography
Goedele is an assistant professor in agricultural economics and food policy in the Earth and Life Institute at the University of Louvain, Belgium, since 2019. She has an interdisciplinary background with a MSc in bio-science engineering (2012) and a PhD in agricultural economics (2016) from the University of Leuven. Her doctoral dissertation was awarded with the Carl K. Eicher award for Best PhD on Africa from the International Association of Agricultural Economists. Prior to joining the University of Louvain, she was a visiting researcher at Wageningen University, University of Göttingen and the World Bank.
Her research focuses on the transition towards more sustainable agrifood systems. She frequently engages in inter- and transdisciplinary research, and works together with various research institutes and NGOs. She has extensive experience with survey design, quantitative and qualitative data collection and impact evaluation, and conducted and/or supervised field work in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Ethiopia, Senegal, Uganda, Benin, Vietnam and Belgium. She teaches various courses in (agricultural) economics and policies at the faculty of bio-science engineering at the University of Louvain. She is a senior editor for the journal of Food Security since 2021, and was on the board of AgEconMeet from 2021 until 2023.
